Record Collector: La Honda - I See Stars Review
Welcome appearance of pop siren's early work.

Today she’s called Rumer, has two Top 10 albums to her name and has shared a stage with such big hitters as Elton John and Jimmy Webb. Back in 2001 she was still Sarah Joyce, a 19-year-old hopeful fronting an acoustic pop band whose debut album languished unreleased in a studio cupboard.
What’s initially baffling is why such an accomplished, mature and seemingly commercial record should have been shelved in the first place, but it’s also a puzzle as to why, given Joyce’s successful reincarnation, it’s taken so long to finally see the light of day.

Mojo: Rumer's back pages from 2001, by her very own request.
What's shocking here isn't just how Rumer doesn't need cushioning AOR sensurround to sound transcendent but that she already sounded that way as 19-year-old Sarah Joyce.

IndieLondon: La Honda - I See Stars (Review)
LA HONDA’S album I See Stars almost never got released. And that would have been a travesty. Recorded some 12 years ago by Sarah Joyce (now better known as multi-platinum selling singer Rumer) together with songwriting guitarist Malcolm Doherty, drummer Dave Roberts and bassist Mark George Brown, I See Stars has only now seen the light of day via the band’s own AMS record label. It’s a goldmine of great songs that was inspired by the West Coast sound of the ’60s, from Buffalo Springfield and The Mamas & The Papas to Dylan, Donovan and Laurel Canyon, with a touch of Joyce’s Karen Carpenter vocals thrown in.

Welcome to the new La Honda website
La Honda launch a new website www.lahondamusic.com to pave the way for the release of their 'lost' album 'I See Stars'... La Honda was the first band to feature the beautiful talent Rumer on lead vocals. Taking their inspiration from the Carpenters, the Mamas and Papas and the West Coast sound, La Honda created sublime sunshine pop. Recorded some 12 years ago, ‘I See Stars’, is a beautifully constructed album, inspired by the wide-eyed optimism of the 60s, and the equally halcyon days of its band members.
